Fridays for Future is a global movement

I am the proud father of a magnificent daughter. But can we be really proud our efforts to change our global future towards moving to a more sustainable society when we look at what we are doing to our planet?

For me personally there is only one answer as of April 2019:

I do not think we can be proud of what we are doing to our planet. Not in the slightest. Here are some of the reasons why (there are many more reasons of course, these are just the ones that I had to think of just now):

  • We have an increasing number of governments across the globe that are starting to fight against each other instead of sticking together for a better future. Fake news and politicking are taking over from common sense.
  • Money rules everything. Everyone that thinks about starting a family or has a family will have to make the choice at some point in their lives whether to start to chase earning money or not. And when you do decide to chase the money trail, this will take most of your time.
  • Our efforts to fight climate change are stalling. And this is very a catastrophic development that needs to be reversed.
  • We are simply not doing enough to save us from making ourselves extinct if we carry on as we have been.

Fridays for Future is a global movement now. It all started with Greta Thunberg in front of the Swedish parliament in 2018.

Fridays for Future is a mirror of our own complacency

You might know Fridays for Future. Fridays for Future is a global movement now. Greta Thunberg (a 16 year old!) has managed to activate a global movement that shows us that adults are not the only ones that can change the world.

Fridays for Future for me is like a mirror. It shows me that whatever we do we should not lose sight of the important changes that are evident. Fighting climate change and making a change for the better. This might not be evident to us adults but it certainly is to our children.

The paragraph with the list above the picture is very depressing. But this is good. If we are not having a wake-up call occasionally adults tend to just accept reality. Sometimes we as adults just do not have the energy to get moving and start changing our reality. This is a fact of life unfortunately.

But it is important to stay positive to not drown in negativity about our situation. There is still time to change our outcome. We as adults are currently to complacent to do enough. Greta Thunberg and Fridays for Future are showing us exactly that and that we need to change. For that I am grateful and will support this global campaign with the tools I have available.

What can you do to support Fridays for Future?
