The University of Washington ran a study, finding that several popular laundry products and air fresheners may contain toxic chemicals, posing health risks. Researchers tested a variety of popular products, looking at the chemicals in laundry products, as well as air fresheners.
In the end, they found that these products contained a variety of different chemicals, with all having at least one chemical which was deemed toxic or hazardous.
In total, they found 58 volatile organic compounds, with 7 of them being considered toxic or hazardous according to federal laws. The study is published in the online journal,
Environmental Impact Assessment Review.
