mixed answers regarding electric cars
1. Still burning fossil fuels at current.
2. technology is out there its just black shelved and patented to prevent anyone else from using similar effective tech.
3. Example of black shelved 3M in the USA has applied for 700+ patents last year alone WHERE ARE ALL THE PRODUCTS!!!!????!!!! Currently Its difficult for a start up to get a patent for the patent system has been stacked against them by the lobbying of big business making is so difficult that the start up gives up or can't do it from all the catch 22 red tape put in place just for this reason to discourage them.
4. In the 90's we were on a role to producing efficient electric cars only to have them bought up by big business in one form or other and sent to the shredders when there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car to begin with!!!!! (watch Independent movie "Where did the electric car go?" for insights on this issue.)
5. battery companies don't want long life batteries they loose profit so they are intentionally made weak while the have the tech to be efficient on there black shelf!.
6. Sorry no proof that's why its called the black shelved. its held in the most secure private part of the company. Only way to know for certain is that new policy needs to be enforced to make companies transparent in ALL ACTIVITIES regardless to secret process and ingredients! for having anything secret allows them to hide anything they want under the secret clause we have no way to check to see if what they are saying is secret for we can't even look to see whether its even secret or not.
7. The sheer size of batteries / weight
8. Durability (maintenance free) its got to last to cut the energies down of replacing bad components. THIS IS AN ENVIRINMENTAL NESSESITY!
9 How much energy is actually consumed by making the battery?? and other components. is the total cost in the end going to be less efficient overall? compared to what is used now?
10. will the batteries put off a gas like current ones do? can they be sealed in an air tight container? what happens if ruptured in accident? There are going to be plenty of those from human error.
11. how will it stand up to extreme hot to extreme cold fluctuations?
12. Could smaller ones be made 1/2 size of golf carts be made for in city. movement in place of cars. especially beneficial for elderly and mobility impaired
13 lack of forthcoming by companies, not willing to share with public about how much resources and energy truly go into producing what ever green things we use. or the true efficiency increase over what we already have.
14. will the electric car be efficient enough to be used in mass quantities which the renewable energy supply can handle in reality and not just on paper? (numbers need to add up and match NOT overhyped!)
my answer goes both ways depending how the above questions are answered and more that are not listed.
