Default I used to eat worms

From the age of five through ten I walked a couple of miles to school across fields and tracks picking blackberries and potatoes (sorry Mr Farmer), the countryside where I grew up is now one big housing estate.

I don't ever remember becoming environmentally "aware" it's just always been something I've felt strongly about.

Wow this is a really interesting thread ... I suppose I was quite lucky growing up I got to be next to nature so to say. But I also saw the opposite side of the large towns and constructiuon industry. My Dad was a builder and I used to have to go along and help at the weekend - being the delicate little thing I was - I must have been quite young when I realised that my Dads business, the money that put clothes on our backs, was pushing animals out of their homes. Oh my goodness I may need counselling for this .... But now as a parent it really worries me what we are leaving behind for future generations ... before long there will be no land left to farm crops because it will have all been polluted by landfill.
