Washington, DC-based CSR/social enterprise job seeker

Hello -

I have been consulting independently and doing short-term contract work for the past 18 months, but I am now actively looking for full-time salaried positions. I would prefer an opportunity where I can grow with one organization over the next several years. Fundamentally, what I enjoy doing is launching ventures and programs, connecting people, integrating ideas and data, and communicating. And I most enjoy it when I can draw upon my experience in and passion for information technology, the environment, and small business/entrepreneurial development.

Prior to my move into independent consulting, I worked for 10 years in the public, private, and non-profit sectors - starting as an early promoter of the triple-bottom-line and then moving into corporate social responsibility as well as exploring social enterprise business models. My experience is roughly equally split between government, private sector, and non-profit – though, I have almost always worked in a cross-sectoral context. I have an MBA in International Business and Sustainable Enterprise from UNC-Chapel Hill and a BA in Political Science and Environmental Studies from IU-Bloomington.

I am targeting the following positions in the Washington, DC metro area and surrounding region:

Marketing & Development positions with:
• Clean tech/renewable energy companies/organizations
• Social enterprises with a technology (not necessarily clean tech) and/or environmental focus

Program Officer/Program Analyst positions with:
• Organizations/programs promoting renewable energy/clean technology
• Organizations/programs promoting technology innovation and commercialization
• International development organizations and strongly mission-driven Federal government agencies such as USAID and EPA
• Sustainability practice of a non-profit

And:
• Sustainability Manager positions with public or privately-owned companies
• Associate positions with sustainability (or otherwise engaged in environment/energy) consulting practices and boutique firms
• Solutions Manager/Product Manager positions in companies/organizations working on ICT for development/sustainability or e-Gov initiatives

I am open to independent consulting in any of the above, but - in general - I am looking to get away from the project-to-project lifestyle and be a part of a team growing/creating something over several years.
