Default Who creates these REPORTS?

What I would like to know is who is writing these reports?? Also Whether the reviewer is truly impartial (meaning they are not paid{Includes paid companies that do reviews} or run by government/ Big Business/ special interest groups)

This is vital for the fact that The above "()" Will influence the accuracy and accountability of over hype and Censuring info that would damage company EGO and REPUTATION. Also it would redirect people attention away from things the company does that has a negative impact far exceeding any good they try to paint.

Default CR Reports

Hello Corey,

In my day job I am writing the annual Corporate Responsibility Report for E.ON UK.

E.ON UK - 2006

I think you are right that people like me are not really impartial when it comes to these topics because we are employed by this organization. But I can assure you that we do everything we humanly can to present the current picture and organizational opinion regarding Climate Change (in my instance) and other topics that are material to the organization within these reports.

Hope this helps a little.

Regards,
Fabian

Hi Corey

check out corporateregister.com!

there you find detailed information on external parties (consultants, designers and verifiers) involved in CSR-reporting of the respective companies!

Smile Who writes these reports

Hi - I have just worked on two 'first' CSR reports; one was a collaborative report between 3 freezone organisations in Dubai, and the other was a stand alone report for the company I work for. The most important thing to make the annual CSR and sustainable reports 'credible' is that they need to receive independent assurance/verification by organisations such as Corporate Citizenship Company for example. These verifiers require evidence to support the contents of the report and the CSR and sustainability activity a company claims to undertake.

I would say the most important thing is to make the commitment to report, produce the first report and steadily, honestly and transparently improve not only on the report content (both positive and negative) itself but also on the incremental growth of sustainable activity within the organisation. The road towards sustainability is a never-ending journey and reporting is a good way to track the progress along that road.

Well who else would do it? Impartiality is irrelevent; this is a new and emerging field, and many excellent people are forging careers out of it. These people will become (or already are) experts in their field, and they will continue to improve the performance of interested companies. The reputation of all involved is the key driver making sure these things are accurate and representative.

It's like someone twenty years ago asking who is going to write an impartial environmental statement. For that matter its like asking who would write an impartial anything, and if you follow that line of thought too far you end up in a straight jacket.

My advice: trust the experts!

"My advice: trust the experts! "

What, you mean like the thousands of experts who acknowledge climate change and peak oil and the urgent need to address these problems? Where are the thousands of experts refuting this. Please point them out. They don't count if they are receiving "donations" from industries which would be affected by these realities.

Hi – I agree with Belindab. The important thing is making the first step, ‘produce the first report and steadily, honestly and transparently improve not only on the report content (both positive and negative) itself but also on the incremental growth of sustainable activity within the organisation’.

My company has been helping organisations to communicate their CR stories for over 10 years. What amazes me when I see many CR reports (either online or in print) is the incredible lack of thought to how information and data is presented, respect for the reader, stakeholder focus and the missed opportunity to build the CR message into the business marketing proposition.
