Default Technical Director - Building Sustainability

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom
Salary: Up to £50k

A leading environmental and engineering consultancy are currently seeking a Technical Director to join and lead their Building Sustainability team based in Manchester, developed to provide advice to developers, local authorities and design teams on the incorporation of sustainability measures within new developments and construction projects. This role will contribute to a strong and developing arm of the business to provide a number of services, as outlined below:
- Providing technical direction to staff members and clients within varying sectors
- Win work and develop long-term relationships with key clients across a wide spectrum of services
- Lead and implement change within a changing business and economy
- Provide operational business support including financial management
- Utilise management and motivational skills to ensure staff engagement and personnel development, with the ability to inspire and mentor junior team members.

This role will report to the Head of Development services across Northern England and will involve providing technical advice in regards to design strategies and coordinating input for relevant disciplines, to include:

- Low energy design advice
- Construction impacts and minimisation strategies
- Contaminated and Brownfield land assessment
- Built environment simulation, including natural ventilation feasibility studies
- Renewable technology integration studies
- Daylight modelling and energy efficient lighting schemes assessment
- Combined heat and power feasibility studies
- Ecological and bio-diversity appraisal
- Social and economic sustainability measures

The above services will be combined in the development of providing sustainability and energy strategies for major construction projects including input to masterplanning and detailed design, advising on cost effective measures for the introduction of energy saving technologies and the development of procedures and strategic plans to implement government and local policy.

This role will also involve managing consultants in the organisation's head of office in the South East of England, and developing the building sustainability service across the UK, for which a competitive salary and package will be offered.
