EIRIS
Experts in Responsible Investment Solutions

Research Analyst (USA)
Required for our office in Boston MA

Starting salary $44,618

EIRIS is a leading global provider of research that investors and financial institutions need to take account of corporate social, environmental, governance and ethical performance. We work with investors around the world, providing them with the research and services they need to put their own principles into practice when making investment decisions. In the last few years we have expanded the coverage available in our Ethical Portfolio Manager (EPM) software product to more than 3,000 companies across the world.

Our parent company is in London, UK, but three years ago we established a small permanent team of 3 staff in Boston MA to conduct research and build and maintain networks with American companies and the SRI community. You will work in the Boston office but closely integrated with EIRIS’ London-based operation. The post includes four weeks’ initial training in London and two additional visits of one week’s duration during the year.

You will analyse companies in several allocated sectors in the USA using surveys, company documents and other sources, assessing them against the full range of EIRIS criteria and inputting this information into the relevant EIRIS research databases. You will be responsible for ensuring the resulting profiles of these companies are accurate, up-to-date, of high quality and professionally presented. The job may involve a small amount of writing-up and presenting the outcome of such research to clients and for possible publication.

You should have a broad knowledge of issues in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and an idea of how companies can address these issues in their corporate strategies. This knowledge could have been gained through work or academic study. A good understanding of and empathy with US culture and business are also required.

You should have a degree (US GPA 3.0+; UK 2:2) or equivalent in a relevant subject, and experience of research or similar work on CSR issues.

If you are personally committed to the promotion and development of
Socially Responsible Investment, thrive on working on your own but are good at keeping in touch with a remote team, we want to hear from you.

EIRIS offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours, 25 days rising to 30 days’ holiday per year, health insurance and a contribution of 11.5% of gross salary to your personal pension scheme, providing you contribute 3.5%

You can download full details and an application form from our website at Ethical Investment Research – click on Job Opportunities. Please complete our application form – do not send a resume. For queries about the job please email Sonia Wildash in Boston at sonia.wildash@eiris.org For queries about the application process please email Phil Baker in London at philip.baker@eiris.org

Closing date for applications is Wednesday October 29th 2008.
