The job…
• Handling all aspects of internal and external communications, as well as event management
• Playing a major part in the organisation of the biennial congress in Iceland
• Communicating through a number of channels to members of the organisation, external stakeholders, and the general public
• Writing marketing materials, policy documents and articles, activity reports, Board briefing documents, and factsheets, working to ensure consistency of messaging
• Being the first point of contact and building relationships within the mainstream media, as well as maintaining and building on already-established relations with sector-specific media
• Producing a quarterly newsletter for all stakeholders- including commissioning members to write pieces, sourcing pictures, and editing
• Taking care of all aspects of events and conference organising- obtaining speakers, liaising with agencies to produce brochures, contributing to content, as well as being there on the day itself
• Dealing with the processing and adding of new members and their information to the database
• Managing and updating the website using a Content Management System, including periodic overhauls; liaising with an external designer on the redesigning of the website
You…
• Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a professional communications role
• Are an excellent writer and all-round top communicator- with a second language ideally, and the ability to communicate to people of all levels
• Thrive under pressure, and enjoy the opportunity to work independently
• Are a strategic thinker and a natural diplomat
• Enjoy the idea of travelling- this role offers international travel for up to 20% of the time
• Have knowledge of publishing applications including Adobe Indesign
• Broadly understand sustainability, water, energy, climate change issues and policy development
• Have excellent editing, project management, organizational, and time management skills
• Have experience in events management, including coordination of presentations, building of programmes, promotion and documentation
• Have a good amount of experience of working with and managing PR agencies, as well as the press
