The award winning Freeplay Foundation has an exciting, fast paced and diverse fundraising, communications and marketing position based in central London. Our mission is to transform lives through dependable, self-sufficient and environmentally friendly technologies. Working in sub-Saharan Africa, we distribute solar-powered Lifeline radios and lights to the very poorest, including vulnerable children, women and refugees.
Key responsibilities include
Creating and implementing a successful and innovative fundraising strategy, including web-based fundraising for projects benefitting the poorest and most vulnerable in Africa.
Spearheading internet-based fundraising campaigns. Raising organisational profile and increasing donations through online marketing. Using website statistics to monitor success. Seeking new Web 2.0 opportunities.
Assisting in researching and writing funding proposals.
Building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of donors.
Creating and managing innovative income generating activities and fundraising and marketing campaigns confidently, working with agreed targets and budgets.
Assisting Director of External Affairs with copy for press releases, leaflets and newsletters.
Assisting with graphic design of marketing materials and coordinating their production and distribution.
Populating and updating the web-site with success stories. Using content management tool to update site.
Skills, experience and profile of successful candidate
Strong English writing and grammar skills. Can write and edit text for funding proposals, website and marketing materials for different audiences. Previous experience writing for or about Africa and the
humanitarian sector a plus.
Demonstrated track record in fundraising and preferably from various channels such as proposals, marketing campaigns and the Internet.
Organised, can juggle priorities with an eye for detail. Disciplined to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Be familiar with web content management tools like Adobe Contribute and desktop publishing. Confident with databases.
Creative, independent thinker and team player.

Experience with Photoshop and video editing packages a plus.
Able to travel to Africa if needed.
Degree preferred and experience in the non-profit sector. Business
experience is highly desirable.
