Description
The position will be responsible for support of Community Relations programs for Hitachi America, Ltd. Oversee and maintain established community relationships and development of new relationships that reflect the diversity and philosophy of Hitachi’s Community Relations outreach efforts/programs and Community Action Committee (CAC) focus. Support and maintain web content for Community Relations Department and Community Action Committee for HAL (including Tarrytown and Brisbane.) Serve as Community Relations representative on behalf of Hitachi America, Ltd. with respective civic, community, NPO and educational organizations in conjunction with Senior Manager and CAC Chairperson. Contributor in supporting HAL’s Tarrytown CAC. Reporting to Senior Manager, Branding and Corporate Communications Group.
1. Overall support of the BCCG Group and the management and direction of company-wide community relations event planning and implementation of company-supported programs. Provide support and coordination of programs including, but not limited to: John Paulding Reading Program, Scholarship program, Annual Food Drive, HISTEP program and other CR initiatives/requests in collaboration with direction of Senior Manager. Manage CR activities including all seasonal and holiday activities, i.e. Thanksgiving baskets, toy drives.
2. Maintain existing relationships with community, civic and non profit organizations as well as development of new relationships with organizations in collaboration with Community Action Committee (CAC) members. Represent Hitachi at community events when appropriate as deemed by Senior Manager, including attending Chamber and community events. Active community involvement with Tarrytown school districts, Chamber of Commerce and additional community organizations as directed by Senior Manager
3. Responsible for processing of donations, and receipt of reports from NPO’s on donation support for Tarrytown CAC and presentation of donations to NPO’s.
4. Oversee and ensure website content for CAC’s and Community Relations Website is consistently updated on a monthly basis.
5. Drafting of press releases and internal communication of programs in conjunction with Senior Manager. External Interactions with Civic and Community organizations, Non Profit Organizations, School Districts, City and Government Officials, Public Relations firms.
6. Assist in coordination and support the activities of an employee driven Community Action Committee (CAC) in conjunction with Chairperson and Senior Manager including, but not limited to the following:
Coordinate and review all donation and grant requests and preparing agenda and materials for monthly CAC meeting in conjunction with CAC Chairperson.
Provide support in arranging and facilitating meetings and volunteer events with CAC and HAL employees
Providing support to CAC Chairperson and CAC Secretary and documenting and posting CAC meeting minutes
Coordination and support CAC with visits to non-profit organizations
Provide support to CAC with process of donation requests and Hitachi Foundation matching process
Provide research support and assist CAC Chairperson in presenting “volunteerism” opportunities for CAC consideration and HAL employee involvement.
The qualified individual should present:
4-year college degree required, prefer candidates with a Communications/Marketing or Social Services degree.
3 years of experience of working with non profit organizations either in house or liaising with NPO’s on the corporate side is required.
Working knowledge MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Familiarity with marketing and branding desired, but not required. Experience with event coordination, check presentations and overall functionality.
Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills are a must. Strong writing skills, will be required to participate in exercise to evaluate written skills. This position requires the proven ability to manage and execute multiple detailed projects on tight deadlines and attention to detail is essential. A background and previous experience working with NPO’s. Occasional Travel is required, no more than 10% annually.
