Default Job Opportunity at Jones Lang LaSalle - Sustainability Consultant, Upstream

An exciting new opportunity has arisen in our Sustainability department at Jones Lang LaSalle for a Sustainability Consultant.

The purpose of this role is to assist with the delivery of work contained within current and future proposals from Institutional Investors clients, increasing the capacity of the Institutional Investors team to enable the team to grow revenues further. The Consultant will also take on the responsibility for leading work with new clients.

Responsibilities

The Consultant will play a key role in the delivery of work for our current Institutional Investors clients. This will include the following tasks:
  • Obtaining and assimilating information about clients and their peers in order to advise on corporate strategy policies and objectives
  • Writing Responsible Property Investment policies and objectives
  • Assessing the portfolios of clients through analysis of results from their participation in Upstream's Sustainability Portfolio Analysis performance
  • Building relationships with clients and their agents, including direct telephone contact and regular meetings, to enable an enhanced level of service
  • Checking and analysing data on a range of issues as provided either by project assistants

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Sourcing potential new clients and developing new areas of work for existing clients
  • Managing the time of Project Assistants within the team to help them assist with the delivery of work

You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.

Requirements

Essential:
  • Strong academic qualifications, potentially in a geographical or environmental management subject
  • Good analytical and reporting skills, including writing reports and/or strategic documents and working with spreadsheets and databases
  • A sound knowledge of sustainability as a whole and the principles underlying 'Responsible Property Investment'
  • An understanding of how sustainability risk affects the property industry and values in particular and the importance of this to institutional investor clients
  • An ability to organise and 'project plan' the delivery of work to an achievable timetable

Desirable:
  • An ability to act confidently and assuredly with clients (at Board level) and their agents or other representatives
  • An ability to manage staff to assist with the delivery of work
  • Knowledge of the property industry and its processes, particularly with reference to the Institutional Investor market

The Individual

Essential:
  • A strong understanding and sound knowledge of environmental management, sustainable development and corporate responsibility
  • A methodical and rigorous approach to information and data analysis, with the ability to both understand detail and synthesise
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Accuracy in numeric and written work
  • Organised and efficient, with practical experience of project planning
  • Confidence and adaptability in using computers and information systems

Desirable:
  • The ability and desire to progress within the company and to become a persuasive advocate for sustainability strategies with clients, linking detailed knowledge of practical sustainability actions to clients' overall strategy
