Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), a non-profit business association that works with business and stakeholders to create a more just and sustainable world, is seeking a Manager, Advisory Services for its San Francisco office.

Position Overview:
The Manager will partner with Directors and Managing Directors to develop client relationships and deliver Advisory Services consulting projects. The Manager will apply his/her project management and consulting skills to ensure the successful execution of high-quality projects and outcomes for clients, while deepening BSR's engagement with member companies.
The Manager will be expected to work across a range of industry sectors, but be able to focus on environmental issues where necessary. In addition to these external-facing roles, the Manager will also share responsibility for internal management and development of BSR's Advisory Services team. This position is full-time and is based in San Francisco.
Responsibilities:
Advisory Services: The Manager will play an integral role in delivering consulting services to member and non-member companies. Areas of project focus include: corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance assessment and reporting, strategy development, social risk identification and management, community development program design, stakeholder engagement, sustainable development, environmental sustainability, and human rights.
Business Development and Recruitment: The Manager will have significant responsibility for recruiting new member companies and will play a leadership role in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Grants and Contracts: The Manager, in conjunction with the Director of Grants, will support efforts to develop and manage grant-related work related to CSR. BSR carries out significant foundation and government funded work to research and develop new tools, guides and methodologies that advance the field of CSR.
External Representation: The Manager will represent BSR to an external audience by: attending & presenting at industry conferences; writing occasional publications; forming beneficial external partnerships; and pursuing other opportunities to raise the profile of BSR more broadly.
Qualifications:
NOTE: Only candidates with these specific requirements will be considered:
· Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, Master's degree preferred;
· Significant experience (at least 5 years) in CSR, preferably with an emphasis in environmental issues. The ideal candidate would offer a combination of field experience and corporate-level experience interacting with multinational company personnel;
· Consulting experience and/or proven ability to perform the key functions of a consultant, including: developing and maintaining client relationships; pursuing and creating business opportunities; and managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
· Knowledge of, or experience in, one or more of the following industries - consumer products, transportation, media, financial services, food & agriculture, mining, oil & gas, technology, and / or telecommunications.
· Preferred Language Skills: Fluent in English, with an additional language from a region in which BSR is based a strong advantage.
· Well-developed leadership and people skills, including a demonstrated ability to enhance the skills and effectiveness of other team members;
· Excellent verbal, written, and facilitation skills;
· Advanced degree in business, public policy, or other relevant discipline;
· Willingness to undertake business travel (~ 25-40% time);
· Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment;
· High ethical standards and commitment to BSR core values of Leadership, Respect and Integrity.
