Mgr, Public Affairs Corp Responsibility (Atlanta, GA )
Organization: Coca-Cola Enterprises
Objective:
Position reports to Director of Public Affairs and Communications and manages the corporate responsibility and sustainability (CRS) process across Coca-Cola Enterprises, helping employees and management better understand how a company's behavior in the areas of corporate governance, workplace, marketplace, environment and the community can have a tremendous influence on public opinion and the ability to hire and retain talented people. To ensure our strategy and supporting programs in the area of corporate responsibility and sustainability are clearly communicated. To serve as the primary liaison with the CRS Advisory Council in shaping the corporate responsibility direction within our organization, which will ultimately improve our overall business performance. This position assists in protecting and enhancing the reputation and image of CCE and our brands by building relationships and effectively communicating with employees and key external stakeholders, including policy makers, opinion leaders, NGOs, and the media. This position will establish and manage CCE’s corporate responsibility initiatives and targets, and identify and address gaps to improve overall business performance as related to our five CRS focus areas – product portfolio/health and wellness, water stewardship, energy use/conservation, sustainable packaging/recycling, and a diverse and inclusive culture. This position will assist in developing and implementing proactive communications strategies and campaigns for issues management, focusing on embedding Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CRS) throughout our company. These communications could come in the form of employee communications, company publications, community relations, stakeholder meetings and listening sessions, and media relations. This position is also responsible for coordinating the activities of the CRS Advisory Council and managing the writing, design, production, printing and distribution of the Company’s annual CRS report and any related collateral materials.
Responsibilities:
General
* Serve as the primary liaison with the CRS Advisory Council to help shape the CRS direction within the Company and embed it across all aspects of our business.
* Serve as the principal communications strategist and project manager for communications related to the company’s CRS strategy and objectives.
* Assist the global CCE Public Affairs team in the development of public relations programs with specific emphasis on communications.
* Manage public affairs and communications summer internship program, including the development of students’ writing, event planning and public relations skills.
* Manage direct reports and team personnel career development plans.
Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
* Manage the company’s CRS process and strategies by helping employees and management better understand the benefits and effects of our behavior in the areas of corporate governance, workplace, marketplace, environment and the community.
* Continuously improve on our company's CRS reporting ability utilizing the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Index. Work with socially responsible investment indices, including
* FTSE4Good, to maintain current listings and to actively pursue additional representation. Manage the budget, development, design, production, printing and delivery of company’s annual CRS review/report.
* Serve as the liaison with CCE CRS Advisory Council and The Coca-Cola Company to meet internal expectations regarding CRS management, data gathering and reporting.
* Ensure that company’s CRS programs support the overall business strategy and are effectively executed through clear objectives, measurements and reporting.
* Develop and manage external stakeholder engagement programs through key community organizations and boards.
Issues Management and Employee Communications
* Create, manage and execute proactive communications plans and strategies to enhance CCE’s reputation and improve our overall business performance.
* Work with departmental colleagues to provide an early-warning system and internal communications strategy for relevant company issues.
* Promote CRS, ABA guidelines, etc., internally by working closely with departmental colleagues on key messaging and strategic communications.
* Manage message development, production and distribution of internal videos and presentations.
Community Relations
* Serve on the environmental task force (if appropriate).
* Develop and manage external stakeholder relationships through key community organizations and boards.
* Monitor and measure CCE's community investment activities to ensure they support overall business and corporate responsibility objectives.
* Lead the company’s strategic philanthropic efforts focusing on youth development and education, environmental conservation and responsible corporate governance.
Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business, or related field.
* Ideal candidate should have at least six years of experience in communications and/or public affairs in a large corporate environment with additional knowledge of CRS initiatives and employee communications.
* International business experience or work experience with Fortune 200 consumer products companies preferred.
* Must have experience in working with senior leadership and developing messaging to communicate to internal and external audiences.
* Experience in issues management with sound writing and presentation capabilities.
* Experience in publishing a wide variety of documents is highly desired.
* Proven ability to manage positive client relationships and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
* Ability to develop and build strong internal and external relationships.
* Energetic, solution-oriented, creative thinker with a proven ability to motivate others, including team members who are not direct reports.
* Full-range comprehension of all communication vehicles, both internal and external.
