VP of Global Citizenship

The VP of Global Citizenship will develop and build this strategic function within the Global Corporate Practice as the agency continues to grow and expand its footprint in global citizenship. This privately held agency provides public relations services to corporate and NGO clients using its Social Innovation Communications methodology. This approach facilitates the acceptance of new ideas and helps clients tell the stories that alter the way people think, act and buy around the world. With U.S. headquarters in Seattle, European headquarters in London and Asian headquarters in Hong Kong, the agency partners with pioneering and creative clients, including GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Microsoft Corp. and T-Mobile USA. The Vice President Global Citizenship will join a team of senior communications professionals based in New York City and report to the Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Practice Lead/NY General Manager. This seasoned leader will serve as a strategic counselor to clients with overall responsibility for account planning and supervision of account teams; assist designing and executing integrated communications programs for corporate and NGO clients, as well as practice development and new business activities.
Responsibilities:
* Serve as senior agency contact to a group of accounts ensuring client satisfaction and maintain team billability and productivity requirements.
* Extensively network and practice marketing at appropriate venues in New York and worldwide that focus on global citizenship issues, sustainability, corporate-NGO collaboration and globalization.
* Anticipate and analyze global and regional social, economic and policy trends that may impact current and potential clients.
* Develop integrated strategic plans as appropriate to capitalize on opportunities or mitigate risk (strategies may include alliance building, issues management and proactive communications).
* Generate incremental business opportunities with existing client base and function as key player in pursuing new business opportunities leading the proposal and presentation processes.
* Work with office management to develop and implement agency policies and procedures that reinforce agency values, ethics, culture and critical success factors.
Qualifications:
* The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record in top-tier media relations and issues management.
* Strong experience in alliance and relationship building among corporations, NGOs, and policy makers.
* Solid experience developing and executing significant global image campaigns.
* Sophisticated knowledge of the intersection of corporate communications and public affairs.
* Minimum of 12 years of work experience in public relations, government service, public affairs or journalism is required.
* Strong background with public policy issues and integrated communication campaigns (i.e., direct mail, events, web, advertising, relationship marketing, etc.) A senior communications professional at a multinational corporation or non-governmental organization preferred.
* Track record of building alliances and working with diverse stakeholders effectively and creating win/win solutions with groups of diverse stakeholders internally and externally.
* Experience with the media as a spokesperson a plus First-hand understanding of a variety of cultures globally.
* Broad-based exposure to all skill areas including proposal, writing and presentations, media relations and consultative selling.
* Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing, business or related field. Master’s degree desirable.
