Manager, Global Labor Practice and Factory Security Compliance
Organization: Eddie Bauer
Job Title: Manager, Global Labor Practice and Factory Security Compliance
Reports to: Director, International Trade and Regulatory Compliance
Division: Corporate Social Responsibility
Purpose:
Responsible for the management and oversight of Eddie Bauer’s Global Labor Practices Program to promote supplier compliance with our Factory Workplace Code of Conduct and encourage best practices, as well as build and protect the Eddie Bauer brand. Includes developing and coordinating program activities and initiatives in the areas of education, evaluation, outreach and collaboration. In addition, the Manager is responsible for foreign factory compliance with U.S. Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) supply chain security guidelines to prevent weapons of mass destruction or effect from being placed in our shipments.
Core Accountabilities:
* Develop and implement policies and strategies to advance Eddie Bauer’s Global Labor Practices Program in alignment with the Eddie Bauer brand and business objectives.
* Lead and manage Program activities and initiatives, including country/factory risk assessments; the development of practices and tools; internal education; supplier training; factory audits; corrective action plans; follow-up to confirm compliance; and supplier capacity building programs.
* Oversee Eddie Bauer’s Fair Labor Association participation and fulfillment of monitoring, remediation and reporting requirements. Participate in FLA Monitoring Committee.
* Identify, build and manage relationships and partnerships with key external stakeholders, such as national and international non-governmental organizations concerned with labor issues affecting Eddie Bauer.
* Maintain regular and frequent contact with international sourcing staff to move program forward and improve sustainability of vendor compliance: coordinate with internal monitors about auditing priorities, factory base, staff and vendor training, factory monitoring, corrective action, documentation, and reporting.
* Oversee and manage relationships with independent external monitoring firms; coordinate work and reporting.
* Benchmark and collaborate with other companies to adopt best practices and improve vendor compliance.
* Work with Eddie Bauer’s international joint ventures and licensing department to communicate and enforce factory labor compliance requirements.
* Coordinate with Supply Chain Operations to activate and update vendor status.
* Monitor and update database regarding labor practice compliance.
* Monitor the media, internet and other information sources in order to track and assess trends and risks related to human rights compliance.
* Manage Eddie Bauer’s foreign factory C-TPAT compliance program, including, but not limited to education, inspection, monitoring and remediation.
* Coordinate and harmonize C-TPAT and Eddie Bauer’s Global Labor Practices programs to achieve maximum leverage and effective use of factory monitoring personnel and compliance resources.

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities Required:
* Four-year college degree.
* Minimum five years relevant experience (i.e. corporate social responsibility, labor practices, human rights, sourcing, auditing, compliance, manufacturing and supply chain security).
* Experience with crisis avoidance and management and conflict resolution a plus.
* Advanced computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Presentation experience.
* Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
* Attention to detail and follow-up.
* Good analytical skills and proven judgment.
* Self-starter and problem solver.
* Ability to operate in a multicultural environment.
* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
