Salary: £40 – 50k & benefits
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity to develop and implement a progressive Environmental Sustainability Strategy for Travelodge, the leading budget hotel chain in the UK.
Over the past two years Travelodge has made real progress in developing its approach to environmental management and sustainability. Several environmental initiatives have already been undertaken, and the company has been working with the Carbon Trust to assess and reduce Travelodge’s carbon footprint. Safeguarding the environment is very important both to our customers and our staff and hence Travelodge is keen to bring all these initiatives together into a progressive Environmental Sustainability Strategy. The Environmental Sustainability Director role is pivotal to that process.

Main Responsibilities
· To provide overall strategic direction on tackling environmental and sustainability issues
· To lead the development of the Travelodge Environmental Sustainability Strategy
· To make sure this Strategy addresses the key environmental issues, risks and opportunities which will affect the hotel business in the short and long-term
· To provide environmental input into the business management process and to support growth
· To embed environmental management across the company, developing appropriate environmental policies for the group and coordinating various initiatives and programmes
· To balance any initiatives with the need to maintain a low-cost culture across the business
Skills/ Experience:
· Up to date knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation, policy and practice
· Understanding of global environmental issues and those which particularly impact on the sector
· Several years’ senior management experience, preferably within a large organisation
· Excellent communications, interpersonal and networking skills
