Description

A vacancy has arisen in our Legal Department for a CSR Manager. The role holder will ensure that we adopt and comply with best corporate responsibility practice and work with the CSR Committee to raise our profile of CSR so that the Group is seen as an innovator in this area.

DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT

To ensure Wilkinson delivers its Business Plan whilst fulfilling its commitment to being a responsible business. Integrating and steering strategic direction of CSR, ensuring compliance and management of key issue/workstream areas to drive continuous improvement - adding both business and customer value. Raise education and awareness of CSR within the business to enable staff to become informed company ambassadors whose actions, decisions and behaviours are driven by company values.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. CSR management & integration

• Work with CSR Committee to shape, develop and implement a CSR strategy to integrate CSR in the business and deliver real added value
• Ensure strategy is aligned and enhances both to corporate values and the Wilkinson Brand
• Develop and implement policies/procedures to support strategic direction and ensure CSR dovetails into other business activity eg risk management, performance management, category reviews etc
• Secretary and maximise profile/value of the CSR Committee

2. CSR issues/workstreams

• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure management of key priority CSR issues/workstream threats and opportunities; specifically:
• review, recommend and oversee development of an Environmental Management System ensuring appropriate resourcing, business integration and resulting in clear communicable position on environment/climate change
• develop and implement a cohesive community investment strategy that includes all community impact areas from donations, staff fundraising, and volunteering to education liaison, economic development and cause related marketing
• integrate CSR considerations into the supply chain

3. Reporting, measurement and benchmarking

• Introduce an action plan framework and performance tracking system to monitor issue/workstream areas and drive continuous improvement
• Develop internal processes and systems to capture key CSR data
• Review and establish an annual rolling programme of reporting
• Review, recommend and lead participation in benchmarking indexes/awards and accreditations

4. Best practice

• Maximise involvement with regional and national CSR partners and interest groups eg BITC, BRC
• Advise and implement CSR best practice
• Represent Wilkinson externally and develop the businesses reputation for CSR

5. Engagement and Communication

• Establish clear and communicable position on CSR – internally and externally
• Ensure channels are maximised to engage with both staff and customers on CSR to understand and fulfil needs and interests
• Work with comms to develop and implement CSR Communications Plan to increase staff education and awareness, articulate what it means for them and the role they play in Wilkinson “walking the CSR talk”
• Work with comms to develop and deliver CSR communication to customers and other key stakeholders eg suppliers
• Raise the profile of CSR overall within Wilkinson so that the Group is seen as an innovator in CSR

THE PERSON

• Background in a relevant discipline
• Held a senior CSR role in multiple retailer or blue-chip business
• Strong external networks
• Latest knowledge of environmental and CSR legislation/regulation/best practice
• Good communication and relationship building skills
• Good project management skills
• Knowledge of social auditing and supply chain issues
• Demonstrated understanding of effective CSR management across international boundaries.
