Amsterdam: GoodElectronics / Co-ordinator for the GoodElectronics Network

Description

An international coalition of NGOs and trade unions is looking for a:

Co-ordinator for the GoodElectronics network

GoodElectronics is an exiting new international network that brings together organisations and unions working on improving labour conditions, human rights and environmental conditions in the electronics industry. GoodElectronics is looking for an enthusiastic coordinator with zeal, dedication, original ideas and initiative to facilitate the network that consists of civil society organisations and trade unions in the South and the North. The ideal candidate can take initiative, inspire others, multitask and is able to organise network activities such as international roundtables. The coordinator will work on consolidating and expanding this international network, facilitating knowledge building & sharing among members, identifying and developing strategies for common activities, and supporting the campaigns and initiatives of organisations both in the North and the South with information and available research.

Skills

Coordination skills

Communication skills, as well as the ability to deal with a wide range of people and situations. Experience of fundraising is an asset as well as experience in organising international meetings / conferences. Good writing skills. Highly effective administration skills including computing, good word processing skills and the ability to use the Internet and are able to (learn to) manage a website goodelectronics - Home.

Networking skills

Experience of working in a Trade Union or Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) in a coordinating, advocacy or campaigning capacity with activists/grassroots organisations.

Campaigning skills

The ability to develop a (common) campaigning plan and agenda and identify action moments for members of the coalition. The ability to translate information into action and support campaigning initiatives

Personal skills

Pro-active individual with excellent organisation skills in order to manage complex workload and work to deadlines. The ability to work in a team and learn new skills quickly. Fluent English (and preferably another language).

Desirable

Experience of working on supply chain issues. Basic Dutch.

What we offer

- Salary between € 2300 and € 2900 gross per month on a full time basis (40 hours a week)

- A contract for a 32-hour workweek, initially for one year, starting in April/May 2008.
