Careers at Ceres

Ceres is currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
* Program Manager, Industry Program
* Program Manager, Corporate Accountability Program
* Director, Corporate Accountability Program


1. Program Manager, Industry Program

Description & Responsibilities
Ceres is looking to hire a Program Manager, Industry Program. This is a full-time position that will report to the Director, Industry Programs. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Managing and/or assisting with research projects with these and other target industries: electric power, oil and gas, coal, automobiles/ transportation, insurance.
* Developing and implementing new tools for engaging companies in target sectors on their sustainability performance and governance, particularly as it pertains to climate risk.
* Engaging Ceres coalition organizations (investors and NGOs) interested in these key sectors, as well as some Ceres companies.
* Designing and implementing workshops, conference calls, and dialogue meetings with companies and stakeholders
* Writing research reports and other multi-media communications to reach companies and stakeholder groups with timely information on Ceres' industry programs and sustainability issues. This will be web-based as well as through print media.
* Assisting with planning for the Ceres annual conference.
* Supporting other program teams (such as Investor Programs, Communications, Development, Finance & Administration) as needed to accomplish organizational objectives.

Qualifications
* Master's degree in business, environment, law or public policy or related field preferred.
* At least three years of relevant experience, or 3-5 years relevant experience with a bachelor's degree.
* Experience with industry sectors such as electric power, oil & gas, automobiles/ transportation and other energy-intensive industries.
* Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues and an understanding of corporations (including corporate reporting tools), the socially responsible investment community, and the environmental and sustainability movements.
* Effective presentation style and excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills, strong initiative and motivation
* Successful record of organizing multiple projects and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel as needed to accomplish duties noted above.
* Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail computer applications


2. Program Manager, Corporate Accountability Program

Description & Responsibilities
Ceres is looking to hire a Program Manager, Corporate Accountability Program. This is a full-time position that will report to the Director, Corporate Accountability Program.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

* Managing and/or assisting with projects and relationships primarily involving the 70+ Ceres companies and 90+ coalition organizations, as well as some prospective Ceres companies. In particular, industry sectors such as electric power, oil & gas, and automobiles/transportation will be included in the portfolio of companies.
* Sustaining and enhancing Ceres' expertise in transparency and disclosure, including advancing the Global Reporting Initiative as an accountability and engagement tool for companies and other organizations in North America.
* Coordinating and facilitating "stakeholder teams" consisting of 6-12 coalition members who conduct sustainability report reviews and other forms of corporate engagement.
* Developing and implementing new tools for engaging Ceres companies on their sustainability performance and governance.
* Designing and implementing workshops, conference calls, newsletters and other multi-media communications to reach companies and stakeholder groups with timely information on Ceres' programs and sustainability issues. This will be web-based as well as through print media.
* Tracking Ceres internal sustainability progress and producing the Ceres Sustainability Report, as well as promoting sustainability reporting among Ceres Coalition members.
* Assisting with planning for the Ceres annual conference program and sustainability reporting award program activities.
* Supporting other program teams (such as Investor Programs, Communications, Development, Finance & Administration) as needed to accomplish organizational objectives.

Description & Responsibilities
Ceres is looking to hire a Director, Corporate Accountability Program. This is a full-time, senior staff position that will report to the Director of Corporate Programs.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Leading and managing a team of several program managers, associates and interns who coordinate projects and relationships primarily involving the 70+ Ceres companies and 90+ coalition organizations, as well as outreach to prospective Ceres companies.
* Sustaining and enhancing Ceres' expertise in transparency and disclosure, including advancing the Global Reporting Initiative as an accountability and engagement tool for companies and other organizations in North America.
* Strategic coordination and management of key "stakeholder teams" consisting of 6-12 coalition members who conduct sustainability report reviews and other forms of corporate engagement.
* Developing and overseeing the implementation of new tools for engaging Ceres companies on their performance relative to the Ceres Principles and on sustainable corporate governance.
* Managing the design and implementation of a variety of print- and web-based communications to reach companies and stakeholder groups with timely information on Ceres' programs and sustainability issues.
* Providing strategic oversight of the program design for the annual Ceres conference and the sustainability reporting awards program.
* Directing efforts to track the Ceres internal sustainability progress as part of the Ceres Green Team and producing the Ceres Sustainability Report, as well as promoting sustainability reporting among Ceres Coalition members.
* Ensuring that the Corporate Accountability team supports other program teams (such as Investor Programs, Communications, Development, Finance & Administration) as needed to accomplish organizational objectives.

Qualifications
* Advanced degree in business, environment, law, public policy or related field.
* Minimum of seven to ten years of relevant experience.
* Knowledge of and experience working with environmental/sustainability issues, including an understanding of corporations, the socially responsible investment community, and the environmental and sustainability movements.
* Knowledge of and experience working with corporations and corporate sustainability reporting tools, particularly the Global Reporting Initiative.
* Experience managing professional and administrative staff who are direct reports, as well as leading team efforts with colleagues.
* Experience developing and managing progress against goals and budgets.
* Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills, superior leadership ability, strong initiative and motivation.
* Successful record of organizing multiple projects and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective presentation style and excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel as needed to accomplish duties noted above.
* Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail computer applications.
