Job Description: Environmental Social Risk Advisor

Job Description
Within ING the attention for Environmental and Social Risk (ESR) is growing. As a member of the ESR Team in Corporate Credit Risk Management's (CCRM's) Policy, you are responsible for the development of ESR Policies and the embedding of these policies in the organisation.
The objective of the Policies is to prevent that ING engages with clients involved in controversial environmental and social practices.
Examples are child labour, structural environmental offences and controversial weapons. Implementation of the Policies also helps to improve the social and environmental quality of ING's transactions.
In addition to the more general development and embedding of the ESR Policies, you will advise both Risk and Front Office colleagues and the Approval Authorities on individual transactions, on a daily basis.
Your tasks and responsibilities include the following:
• Development/ embedding the ESR Policies: you will participate in the ongoing stakeholder dialogue between CCRM Policy, Front Offices (Structured Finance, General Lending, etc), Corporate Communications and divers external parties (peer group banks, NGO's etc.). On the basis of this dialogue, you will develop new and/or improve existing ESR Policies.
• ESR transaction advisory: You will evaluate the ESR risks involved in the various types of transactions/ deals originated globally in the front office. As part of the credit approval process you will advise ING's highest credit committee whether proposed transactions comply with the existing Policies and engage with deal teams to ensure that these deals are within ING's risk appetite.

Organisational Context
CCRM's ESR Team is based within CCRM Policy. CCRM Policy reports directly to the Global Head of Credit Risk Management. You will operate in a team of 3 professionals. Due to the nature of the work and the global responsibilities your working field is international and culturally divers. Openness in communication, decisiveness, flexibility and a positive attitude are important characteristics of the department.

Personal Profile
You will have:
- A University level of education, preferably finance/economics.
- Demonstrably knowledge, interest and experience in ESR.
- A minimum of 2 years relevant working experience, preferably within front office or credit risk.
- Sound banking/product knowledge.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Knowledge of ING as an organisation, its products and customers as well as general knowledge of (financial) markets.
- Good command of English language, both oral and written. Knowledge of other languages (e.g. Spanish, Russian) is an advantage.
Furthermore:
- You are willing and able to travel occasionally.
- You are able to handle resistance.

This is a fulltime position, 40 hours per week. Location is Amsterdam.
