Smile Hello from Alice C

Hello all,

I come to this site out of personal interest in sustainability - but also has some professional relevance- (I work for a public participation think tank: Involve - The Participation Organisation | Home if you're interested in finding out more about that).

Other personal interests are in local regeneration and conservation work - but I would like to find out more about strategic/economic planning for sustainability as well as the direct impact of these policies on living breathing communities.

I also have a particular interest in youth engagement and e-participation.

Alice

Welcome to the forum Alice.

What does e-participation mean?

Sounds interesting though!

Fabian

You mean in the sense of today’ socioeconomic system? If so, then I would say that what we have today has a unsustainable nature. Or in the sense of alternative socioeconomic systems?

Hi Fabian,

e-participation is a bit of a broadbrush term for describing any way of engaging people online in an active community- whether it be simply to vote on an issue- say on a change to your local rubbish collection service, or to join in a conversation, say on the impact of nanotechnology on society. It is used particularly in the context of say public participation in services.

If you're interested in finding out more check out E-participation for a good list of links...

Hi Isenhand,

I would say that it is the potential for alternative socioeconomic systems that interests me the most- though am sure I have much to learn about the state of the current system as it stands! Any pointers for basic reading/texts would be much appreciated!
