Default Hello from Montreal!

Hello,
I've been interested in environmental and sustainable issues for quite some time now. It's my interest for these issues that pushed me to get a BSc. in Biology and later a Ba. in Political Science (you got to understand what you want to change and then see how you can change it ...or at least that was my reasoning). Later on I did an internship in the departement of sustainable development in a big international organization and then I decided to found a shop for ecofashion: My Homepage
So that's pretty much it,
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum alterna.

Nice shop you have there. Why dont you tell us a little more about your shop and where you would like to take it in the next years?

I love Canada by the way!

All the best,
Fabian

Well we got interested in environmental issues quite some time ago and at first we wanted to launch an organic/local produce grocery shop. But after having done some research and started creating some contacts some of the larger grocery shops started selling the types of products we werelooking at, so instead of competing with them we put that project aside and started looking at another basic necesity: clothing.
After having done quite a bit of research I realized that cotton was actually a pretty terrible crop. So I started looking at the local shops that sold ecofashion and I noticed that the majority were made of recycled clothes, which is a great initiative but it does not make for the most elegant pieces.
So I decided to start my own shop, we decided to go for an online shop since it has less of an impact on the environment and we tried to get all manufacturers that followed 3 simple rules:
1. They need to make ecofashion in a sustainable way.
2. They must make it with consideration to human dignity and life (so no sweatshops)
3. Finally they must be as close to us as possible (to reduce the transport).

So that's basically the rundown on our shop My Homepage
We are going to continue promoting it for the next little while and when things get in a steady stream we will move on to our major project involving building retrofitting in order to meet high environmental standards.
