OK, I looked at the site, and it says:

QUOTE:
"Answer the green questions below. For each 10 correct answers, we will plant one tree in a deforested area of Africa. Together we can save the world."

Sounds interesting. However, it is still rather vague - it does not say which countries or even the biogeographic or climatic zones involved. It says that advertisers on the site pay for planting the trees - who pays beyond that, for maintenance and protection of the juvenile trees? Too many of these tree planting initiatives do not look beyond the "planting" aspect. As well-intentioned as the project sounds, what institutional arrangements are in place to implement and manage the tree-planting programmes?

I would have it checked by an independent trustworthy source before I would put money even near it.
Planting trees is all very well but what sort of trees where and for how long do not seem to be very prominent in there blurb.

Trees are planted by 'Trees for the Future' (or so it says) ...

Not personally convinced!

According to the JogoGreen link:

"Trees Donated per day":

2008-04-24: 30
2008-04-25: 732
2008-04-26: 301
2008-04-27: 209
2008-04-28: 154

It is an original idea, and admittedly a very impressive first day response. But, the progressive falling off after the initial response gives interesting perspective to the idea of on-line quizzes (or other games) as a means of enlisting support for tree-planting. Regardless of my previously expressed reservations or cynicism, if this is legitimate, I fully appreciate the aims and objectives of this initiative - the only question being - how does this performance to date reflect on the "sustainability" of the internet-game approach to promoting environmental awareness and action?

Further to which, how can these types of initiatives, even if fully credible, be promoted without arousing suspicion or skepticism?

We totally agree with your statement:

Great question... we're still searching for the answer

There are many fly by night companies, organizations, people who promise the world but end up doing nothing of value at all.

You will soon see that Jogo Green is not one of "those" organizations. We just submitted our first order from Trees For The Future (TFTF) for 2,200 trees. Even TFTF was leery of us at first - But not anymore! Since ordering the trees they have allowed us to create a page on our website about their organization to prove that we are legitimate - Check it out here Jogo Green :: Trees

We are hoping to get a press release out by the end of the week with our order certificate.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns about our organization!!

Best wishes,
Gerrid
