Default Not getting anywhere in my environmental career.

Hi i was just wondering if anyone could advise me on getting jobs in the sustainability/CSR sector.

I have been to tonnes of interview and every time they say that they have taken someone on with more experience. I'm pretty sure that this is not the case and I am obviously doing something wrong at the intervew. So perhaphs you might be able to give me some pointers for the next one and I might actually get the job/internship. However if it is the case that I dont have enought experience are there any environmental sectors that are opening up which I could train in and potentially find a job afterwards? Failing that there's always doing a masters.

I just feel realy stuck at the moment and dont really want to spend the rest of my life in a job which I dont enjoy and i do have an environmental science degree and it seems like such as waste if i cant get a job in the sector.

I would really appreciate any comments.

Sophie

Hi Sophie,

Where are are you based? London? London is probably the best place for this sector here in the UK.

Have you thought about voluntary work for a charity, WWF or so?

And what areas are you looking to get the job in? Can you be more specific? We might be able to point you into the right direction.

All the best,

Fabian

Hi Fabian,

Thanks for replying.

I have considered voluntary work but even that is competative and i have also been to interviews for voluntary work and not got them. I would ideally like to work in CSR or sustainability and I am particularly intersted in behavioural change and would like a career as an environmental social scientist. However, I am finding that it is very competative and perhaps a masters would be a good idea in a related field but i dont want to do this and have the same problem when I finish. Perhaps there are other areas that i could train in that would lead to a job in the environemnt after. Any suggestions?

Sophie
