The downside of regulations is that companies merely try to meet them (if at all, they do), and don't go beyond what is stipulated in these legal instruments.

Yes, the bottomline is still a deciding factor. Companies who have turned green may be banking on making the first crack in the market slowly favoring environmentally responsible companies (or is it so?).
