Default New Carbon Calculator launched

Please allow me to alert you to the fact that Carbon-info.org is launching a highly accurate PC based carbon calculator, which identifies an individual’s carbon footprint and calculates the recurring cost of buying personal carbon credits to cover annual carbon emissions.
(In short we have tried to resolve some of the many issues discussed by the individuals on this thread.)

(FREE demo, visit: The Green Software Shop - 02)

A carbon footprint is an important measurement of a person's impact on the world. Unfortunately, the many on-line calculators we have come across are inaccurate or biased because they are used to calculate the cost of carbon offset! Furthermore, what is the point of calculating your footprint, if it is not possible to monitor and manage it over a period of time. It simply looses it value and becomes no more than a Saturday afternoon activity quickly forgotten.

Our footprint calculator changes all this and sets a new standard in personal carbon calculation.

Based on an official UK Government model, the software allows anyone with access to a personal computer to easily and accurately identify their carbon footprint from a range of direct and indirect sources such as energy, transport, lifestyle and fixed emissions.

With renewed speculations that the UK Government may introduce personal carbon trading, the calculator highlights the financial impact of buying carbon credits on the European carbon trading market. At the current rate of 25 Euro per ton Carbon Dioxide (CO2) a typical UK family could end up paying £992 each year for carbon credits.

Omitted by many on-line calculators, our software is uniquely designed to include carbon emissions generated from a person’s lifestyle and fixed emissions, which we all get a share off whatever we want to or not. Measured in tons of CO2, lifestyle emissions are identified through a series of graded questions about leisure activities and purchasing habits.

Another unique feature allows multiple carbon footprints for consecutive periods to be compared and analysed. Any increase or reduction in carbon emissions are identified and the financial impact on the individual highlighted. This allows you to share and compare your footprint with friends and family. Furthermore, the model can be adjusted to help ensure that calculations remain accurate until the year 2013!

The calculator can also be utilised by parents who want to educate their children about the causes of global warming.

I hope you will find the calculator both useful and empowering.

Thank you for your time.
